How GPA Is Calculated
GPA (Grade Point Average) measures your performance in one semester.
For every course:
Quality Point = Credit Unit × Grade Point
Then:
GPA = Total Quality Points ÷ Total Credit Units
Example (using the default 5.0 scale):
Course 2: 3 units × 4 (B) = 12 quality points
Course 3: 2 units × 3 (C) = 6 quality points

GPA = 33 ÷ 8 = 4.125 → displayed as 4.13

How CGPA Is Calculated
CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) is your overall performance across all included semesters or courses.
CGPA = Total Quality Points (all courses) ÷ Total Credit Units (all courses)
Important: You should not simply average your semester GPAs. That method is incorrect because semesters often have different total credit units. Always use the weighted method above.

Previous Quality Points = Previous CGPA × Previous Credit Units
Combined CGPA = (Previous QP + Current QP) ÷ (Previous Units + Current Units)
5.0 Grading Scale Explained
Many Nigerian universities use a 5-point grading system. A common default mapping is:

- B — 4 points
